Catacombs of San Gennaro
The Catacombs of San Gennaro is an underground paleochristian burial place and a sacred place for generations of Romans, Christians and Italians. The lower, the most ancient level, dates back to the 3rd and 4th centuries, although the catacombs gained their importance only when the Bishop Agrippinus of Naples was buried there. The Catacombs occupy over 5600 square meters, containing almost 2000 locules and 500 arcosolia. Visit the catacombs, walk through times and centuries, see the ancient tombs and intricate frescoes, and conclude the visit tasting typical dishes in the sacristies of old churches.
